It is our policy that every dog must pass an Evaluation Day to become a member at The Puppy Playhouse. All of our members must continue to be friendly towards people and dogs to maintain their membership. We believe that the behavior of an individual dog is much more important than it's breed or appearance. Our members include HUMAN AND DOG FRIENDLY pure bred and mixes of French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, American Bulldogs, Boxers, English Mastiffs, Bull Mastiffs, Neopolitan Mastiffs, Bull Terriers (Spuds McKenzie & TargetTM Dog), American Pit Bull Terriers (APBT), and American Staffordshire Terriers (Am Staff).
Thank you to every one who was a part of Team Blue. Blue is a sweet and adorable American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Her long jourey began at a shelter in Northern California. Due to the difficulty shelters there have placing bully breeds in good homes, she was transferred to Willamette Humane Society, in Salem, Oregon. During the heavy rains of 2012 Willamette Humane Society flooded and all of the animals had to be placed quickly in temporary foster homes. Many individuals and animal rescue groups responded to help the shelter in their time of crisis.
Cylvia Hayes, the First Lady of Oregon, stepped up and fostered two cats, as well as Blue, at the Governor's Mansion. Blue's youthful exuberance required finding a longterm foster location to properly socialize and train her in preparation for her forever home. Cylvia contacted The Puppy Playhouse, because of our reputation for high quality daycare and boarding, and special arrangements were made for Blue to be fostered there.
Our staff noticed that Blue was limped on her back leg and took her to be examined by Crossroads Veterinary Hospital. It was determined that Blue had a blown ligament and that the treatment would be an expensive major surgery and long period of recovery. Fortunately we have an extensive network of animal lovers who stepped up to help. Lauren Rader provided a connection to a specialist surgeon, who generously offered a reduced price on the surgery. Lauren also provided a temporary recovery location for Blue, so would not have to be endure a long car ride immediately after her surgery.
Blue's surgery was a success, and due to the diligence and care of our staff, Blue recovered ahead of schedule. Thank you to all the generous donors who made Blue's surgery possible. The process of socializing, training, fundraising, surgery, recovery, and finding the right forever home, took an incredible fourteen months. Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way.
Blue now has a fantastic forevery home, right here in Sherwood, Oregon. She and her brother continue to attend daycare and hangout with all of their friends at The Puppy Playhouse.
