Go to the Daycare page and enter your information in the form. Please fill in all of the boxes, scroll through the entire form, and then click on the submit button. The form will be emailed to The Puppy Playhouse. After we have received your membership application we will contact your dog's veterinarian to confirm your dog's vaccinations. After we have confirmed the vaccinations, we will contact you to set up an Evaluation Day.
How old does my puppy need to be to go to daycare?
We do not have a minimum age requirement for daycare. We do require that your puppy has already had a second booster for distemper and bordetella. The age at which a puppy will have their booster vaccinations will vary greatly with whether the puppy came from a breeder or a rescue or a shelter.
What vaccinations does my dog need to have?
We require that puppies have a second booster for bordetella and distemper.
We require dogs over 6 months in age to be current on bordetella, rabies, and distemper.
We will accept exemption waivers or titers if they are provided by a veterinarian.
When can I take a tour of The Puppy Playhouse?
We offer tours during our Public Hours on Weekdays between Noon-1pm and 4:30-6:30pm. We can not give tours while the daycare dogs are out in playgroups. Please do NOT bring your dog for the tour, as you will be walking in front of dogs that are in suites or crates. We can not give tours during our morning drop off time as that is a very busy time. If you would like to arrange a tour at a different time, or on the weekend please call us (503) 625 4818 to arrange a time.
What is the Evaluation Day?
The Evaluation Day is a dog's first day of daycare. The Evaluation Day is the length of a Full Day of Daycare, with a drop off between 6:30-9am, and a pick up between 4:30-6:30pm. On the Evaluation Day, the new dog will be in a separate group, and will be introduced slowly to the mellowest dogs their size, throughout the day. How many dogs a new dog meets on their Evaluation Day will be determined by how they interact with the other dogs and how many dogs we have of a similar size on that day. We are also looking to see how comfortable the new dog is in our facility and how easily the dog is with being handled by our staff. Due to the additional time an Evaluation Day requires, we can only perform one per day, unless both dogs are from the same family.
Will my dog be in a crate or suite at any time during the day of daycare?
Yes, daycare dogs will be in a crate or suite during drop off and pick up times, and break times between playgroups. This gives the dogs a chance to take a break and relax between playgroups. This is similar to allowing a dog to take breaks while playing at a dog park, as a dog would not be at a dog park for the length of a full day of daycare. Break times also allow dogs to eat their own food or have their own toy in a comfortable personal space. We provide the crates and bedding, although you may bring your dog's own bedding if you prefer. The suites are built into our facility.
